Second Day at U of I

Woke up at 7, peed, put in my contacts, brushed my teeth, took a shower, and changed. Walked outside and on the way to the bus stop Maura asked me if I was going to the CHP orientation. I told her I was and she offered me a ride with her older sister or friend or something. She was a graduate student. So we go up stairs and grab breakfast, I had a bagel and fruit. We accidentally sit with the older kids instead of the freshmen because everyone looks the same in college. Not like high school. Then we split into our groups. I was in the National Carrot Cake Day which is a real holiday in February according to the sign. I talked to a girl named Darcy a bit. It's pretty easy to talk to people here since everyone is trying to meet people. We went on a tour of the Honors House which is a really old house where you have to go upstairs to go downstairs to the basement. It has a lounge and a computer lab with free printing. Everyone here talks about free stuff all the time. Apparently getting free stuff is going to be a big deal to us college students. Then we went to a panel on volunteering and student government which I slept through a lot of because I'm sleep deprived. Then we went to a panel on research and study abroad which I managed to stay up through. Then we took a bus to the Assembly Hall where Convocation was. Convocation consisted of a speech by the Chancellor and someone else and our keynote speaker was Chris Bronsen who is some journalist. It was kind of amusing. I sat by Anna Gormley who went to North. I've seen at least 20 people from North today and yesterday. (Anna Gormley, Kate Jarboe, Justin Eastman, Rachel Kaminski, Emily Shu, Ryan Grillaert, Matt Blume, Tanush Sahay, Matt Walters, Joey Vargo, Brian Hoskins, Jon Wonais, Cassie, Valerie Paulo, Peter Chang, Tony Li, Michael Ngyuen, Peter Tan, Adam Hudoba, Wen Zhang, Ian Simon) It's crazy how many people are here. So after Convocation, Sights and Sounds came into the hall. They were supposed to be outside but they came in because of the rain. We were supposed to leave the hall right after convocation, but because of the rain we were supposed to stay and watch sights and sounds. Almost everyone left though out of confusion/hunger/boredom. There was some acapella groups, hip hop dancing, irish dancing, break dancing, a marching band. It was pretty amusing. Fell asleep some again. Then we got to go get lunch. It was all cold and the main course was fried chicken. It was disgusting. The biscuits and fruit were good though. We ate in Memorial Stadium. After lunch I went back to my dorm and chillaxed until the picnic. I get confused how to get out of the six pack or into the six pack so I exited the wrong way and made it take 5 minutes longer to get to the picnic. I was only like 2 minutes late though. It took me like 30 minutes. I am going to be so in shape walking everywhere and walking up four flights of stairs to my room all the time. The picnic had macaroni which I ate. Talked to Darcy some more and Sarah, one of the sophomores in the program. We played a silly get to know each other game and then I walked back to the dorms with Maura who by the way  has already been to 5 frat parties. Even the huge nerds go apparently. Then I talked to Chris for a while and tried to sleep but I'm no good at napping really. My dorm left for the Late Nighter at Union at 8 but I woke up around 8:05 and they were already gone but I found some people going so I walked with them. They didn't talk to me at all the whole walk there. I met up with Brian at the Union. We waited in line for an hour and a half to go on one of those bungee trampoline things. It was exhausting let me tell you. I did a flip at the very end when I worked up my courage. Then Brian and I walked around trying to decide what to do. Pretty much everything had like an hour line. We cut in line to go to the oxygen bar which is weird. I don't know what it's supposed to feel like. I tried the spearmint one which is supposed to be for stress. I still have the breathing tube they give you. Maybe I'll scrapbook it when I get home. At 11:15 we went to go see a comedian. Craig something. Apparently he was on Last Comic Standing and Conan O'Brien. He was pretty funny. There was a hypnotist show after but I was too tired and cold to stay unfortunately. I hear it wasn't as good as the one at our school anyways. Justin walked me home because he lives in Scott I think. Or some other six pack dorm. And now I'm here. Woot.

I have not xanga'ed in forever. I thought I'd write about the hypnotist, Jim Won, because he was pretty epic. So people signed a permission slip if they wanted to be hypnotized, then 34 were called up by lottery, then he hypnotized them with a light up sword. He just held up the sword and told them to concentrate on the sound of his voice.

After two-ish minutes he told them all to close their eyes and then pulled on their arms. Some of them fall over all the way onto their lap, some just nodded their heads, and one kid, Connor, fell completely sideways.

He pulled him up straight and then told him to put on his seatbelt. Connor pulled like a roller coaster seatbelt over his head. Then he sent away some people that weren't hypnotized enough. While he was talking to the other people, he told Connor to stand up and guard a light, which basically meant he stared up at a light all the way on the ceiling for a long while. He looked ridiculous.

When Jim Won told him he could stop, Mr. Won started walking away swinging his arm a lot so Connor started following him and swinging his arm too.

Then some music started playing and Mr. Won started dancing to it so Connor did too. But Connor went crazy. It was so funny. Then he had everyone sit down and do things like look happy, serious, sad, and sassy. He also started clapping their hands and then they just kept it up.

The next event was him telling everyone that he was going to give them Nectar of the Gods. He told them all to hold out their hands for their glasses and that when he gave it to them, they better not drop it cause someone will steal it from them. Instead of giving them a glass he just tapped their hands, but they all instantly clutched the "cup" to their chests. One girl hid it behind her. When he got to Dave Barton, Dave was to fast for him and grabbed his hand and refused to let go. He finally got loose when he told him to switch the glass to the other hand. (First pic zoomed out so you can see people clutching glasses. Second pic close up of Dave Barton clutching the hypnotist)

He then filled their glasses and told them that once they drank it they would feel happier than they'd ever felt in their lives. Once they drank it, trying to get every last drop out, they all smiled and giggled stupidly like they were drunk. Then he had them all take off their shoes and arrange them neatly in front of them. Then he told them they were at a race track and gave them all tickets. He then asked them what the name of their horse was and told them that the name of their horse had to do with Naperville North. People said ridiculous things like Captain Kirk, The Allison, and Royal Flush. Someone just said indistinguishable mumbling. Then he told them to pick up their shoes, which were actually binoculars and watch the race. Most people had one heel on each eye or one toe on each eye, but some people had like one shoe covering both eyes.

They looked awesome as they looked from side to side "watching their horse."

Then he said that somone's horse won. It was Laura Pillari and she did a ridiculous happy dance. Then he said that they looked at the tapes again and it turned out everyone won, which means they all get a million dollars, but they had to make sure they didn't lose their tickets. This caused half the people to put them down their shirts and others to put them down their socks and whatnots.
Next he told them that his head was disappearing. People had looks of utter distgust on their face. Then his shoulders disappeared, then this torso. Then he took a drink of water and you could tell that the hypnotized people were watching that water go down invisible intestines. Then his legs disappeared and the ran at the students when all they could see were his shoes. They were terrified.

Then his feet disappeared and he swung a microphone stand at them. He even touched one kid with it. I'm sure that kid was scarred for life. Then he erased the negativity of the event from their minds. At one point he made them act like fish with a shark chasing them. He erased that negativity as well.
Then there was a dance competition where everyone had a few seconds to try and win. Everyone's was pretty hysterical, but Laura Pillari did the worm. I had no idea she could even do the worm. Also I think everyone is a better dancer hypnotized.

After the dancing, he told Dave Barton that the microphone stand was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in his life. He told him that he was auditioning for a part and to get it he had to kiss the girl. When it was time for him to kiss that microphone stand, he swung it all the way done. It was priceless.

Next up was American Idol. He had Connor singing Fergie, Zoe and Solum/Anna (their twins. I can't tell them apart) doing some country song, and Austin I think doing that Before he Cheats song. He brought up Chelsea Johnson and told her that she plays a very weird instrument that he's never heard of before and asked her what it was called. She replied with harp. How lame. So he gave her this mass of long, skinny balloons knotted together to form a shape. She went over into the corner to play it in accompanyment to the singers. She played it by kneeling and bouncing it up and down. Everyone else were backup dancers. When the singer's come out he asks them what key they want Chelsea to play in, anything from A to Z. Then he has Chelsea point to which key that is. And she'll just touch a random balloon. So cute. So Zoe's song was first and two of her backup dancers decided they were horses, so they sang their country song astride to boys. OwOw.

After the first song Chelsea came up and told the hypnotist this. "I don't think this is my harp. My harp wouldn't pop."  She said it in the most forlorn voice ever. It was adorable.  He told her he'd fix it right up and did his hypnosis and told her it was all better. She wasn't convinced though, so he told her the popping noise was a car backfiring and she was satisfied. Then Austin went and demanded that he have a person help him sing his song, so Derek came up. It was funny because none of them really sang I don't think. They just moved their mouth while they were supposed to be singing. For Fergie's song the hypnotist told Chelsea that Fergie wanted two people to play the harp. She responded with, "Am I not good enough." It was so sad. So he was like, "No, no, no Fergie just likes two people to play. Is that okay?" "I guess," in a still very depressed voice. So then he tells her when he waves his hand she'll be excited about playing with someone else. So he waves his hand and asks her if it's okay. She says, "Yeah!" So the two people play the harp and by the end of the song two more balloons have popped. That harp was just a recipe for disaster.

To be continued

Hong Kong

So everyone is still asleep so I've decided to write a xanga entry about my trip thus far so I shall not forget it. It started with Katie and her family picking me and my mother up at 9 AM. We drove to the airport, had a lady look at us like we're ridiculous because we came into the international terminal to go to Hong Kong, then took a train to the correct terminal. Our parents wanted to go past security with us so we went to the booth  and the guy told us that he doesn't usually give parent passes to kids older than 17, but he said he would give us one, because he thought my mom was my sister. He finally figured it out and gave us two.

The plane ride was long and exhausting. We watched Queen Elizabeth, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, Becoming Jane, No Country For Old Men, and some other movie about black people staying at a resort. It was impossible to watch Queen Elizabeth because they spoke in Spanish half the time and the screen was partially blocked so I couldn't read the subtitles. I fell asleep during Mr. Magorium. I did watch Becoming Jane. I had already seen No Country For Old Men and did not enjoy it so I didn't watch that. And I don't watch movies with only black people because thats racist. They fed us three meals. One beef, mashed potatoes, vegetables, salad meal, one crappy version of Ramen noodes meal, and one lasagna and fruit meal. Katie mostly got rice and vegan cookies. Immigration was pretty quick and uneventful except Ping Poon yelled at me.

We took a taxi to Mary's house. That was terrifying. They drive on the wrong side of the road, in narrow lanes, around mountains. There is no flat spot in all of Hong Kong. The buildings are a million stories tall and in between them there are jungles. It is gorgeous. Mary lives on the 33rd floor of her building except not actually cause they start on floor 5, have no floor 13 cause it's unlucky, and have no floors that end in the number 4 because that number sounds like death in Chinese. The rest of the night we just chilled in her room playing silly games.

Katie and I woke up at like 7 the next day. It was ridiculous. Stupid jet lag. We got Mary up at 8 and she made oatmeal. Then we just sat around a while and we actually ended up leaving the house much later than we wanted to. We took a tram thing over to the bank with Katie and I being amazed with everything and taking a gazillion pictures. Then we took the MTR (a train) and we payed with our Octopus cards, which have a hysterical name. The MTR took us to where we take a bus to OCEAN WORLD! Ocean World was uber fun. Katie and I went on two roller coasters while Mary watched. We went on the Space Wheel which spins you in a circle as it get progressively more and more vertical. Apparently Katie and Mary did not know that was going to happen. Hysterical. We decided it was too cold and humid to go on the log flume so we skipped that. The next section of every part of the park was up a gigantically steep escalator. We saw some cute seals and went on the Ferris Wheel. We were stuck at the top for a while, as people were unloaded and loaded back on. The wind would blast us every few minutes. It was freezing and we got some epic hair shots. Then we went to go see the sharks. They were awesome. We got to go in a tunnel that they swum over. Then we went to see the jellyfish. Jellyfish are the coolest things ever. The last room had these tubes of jellyfish with lights in them. The lights would change color to match  the music. There were maybe 6 tubes, but all the walls were covered in mirrors so it looked like we were in a giant room of jellyfish! Probably the best part of the park. Then we got to take he cable cars which were now up and running over to the other side of the park. We went into frog world which was fairly lame because well frogs are lame. There was a man dressed as a frog though and he was awesome. Then we went past the hot air balloons which weren't running  so they ruined my life pretty much. Then we got to see the pandas! There were 4. It was sooooo awesome. I don't believe I have ever seen a panda in my life. They are adorable. I bought a little panda coin purse which has the best tag in existence on it. Pretty much I paid for the tag. The three of us bought tshirts with press on rhinestones. Mine is of a jellyfish, Katie's is a panda, and Mary's is a frog and it says MR. K under it.

After the park we made our way over to Kowloon. We were going to go the the Fish Market, but we had spent way longer at the park than expected. We bought tickets for the Pink Dolphin boat ride and then went into this ridiculous mall for dinner. It had some aisles with stores on the sides but then it had lots of rooms that just had millions of stores inside. It was extremely confusing. We ate at an American grill cause we're adventurous like that. We ran over to watch the light show that they have everyday at 8 but I believe we may have missed it. We may try again another day. We took the Star Ferry home which is supposed to have epic views, but it was foggy and misty all day. My camera was also already full after Ocean Park so I couldn't really take any more pictures. Thats 340 pictures I took in 2 days. Snazzy huh. We just chilled at Mary's house and dyed my hair after that. I was exhausted so I just fell asleep right after.

Today I woke up at like 7. I ate my squished pop tart and talked to Mary's mom for like an hour. Now I'm hear but Katie and Mary have finally woken up so I think I shall go chill with Katie. WEE

The tale of the three caterpillars

I seem to have missed several days. I fail at life I suppose. I'll start with today. In psych we had a rubberband war. Two shots for each person. Two points for a head shot, one point for a body shot, and if you move out of the way or cover your face then you lose a point. The point of the activity was to frustrate us. How stupid is that? Mr Max annoys me yet again. I don't believe anything else eventful happened all day. Cameron is driving me to school again. Which means I have to start begging rides off people. Which sucks. It's only for the rest of the semester though. Woot. Next semester we'll both have early dismissal. YAY! We had GSA today. Katie planned some game where we find pictures in magazines of heterocentrism. Or something like that. I don't think it worked out that well. We ended up making a poster with a bunch of couples because we couldn't think of anything that else demonstrated heterosexual-ness. Katie also got really frustrated with people that weren't taking it seriously and were just ripping pages out of her magazines. So my computer restarted but it saved all of this. How awesome is that? So after GSA Katie drove me to Nick's. I hung out there for like 10 minutes before he had to drive me home and go to school. Sad. So I came home and attempted to look at college stuff. I didn't do horribly. I obviously didn't get as much done though as I wanted to. That was inevitable though. I called Nick at like 9:15 cause he's supposed to be off of school by then and usually he calls me. He was at Ryan's house with Betty and Kristin. And Ryan. Apparently they called him while he was at school. So Kristin asked to talk to me and she said I should come over. So I did. I watched the end of some movie they had been watching. It seemed very emotional, but I didn't know who anyone was so it didn't matter much. Kristin was excrutiatingly hyper. That girl can talk fast when she wants to. Ryan and Betty were even more flirty. Well less flirty and more like they were dating. When Betty and Kristin went outside to smoke, Nick asked Ryan and he said they weren't. He also thinks smoking's gross. High five to him. I had to be home at 11. So I came home at like 11:15. Close enough. My mom was like "Be-cca." Cause when they make your name two syllables it means you're in trouble. But I just distracted her talking about college stuff and she forgot all about it. I was home after 12 yesterday. So pssh. The key is to come home late enough so she's already asleep. Or maybe that's just really flawed logic. Regardless, I should be getting more sleep than this.
So that was today. Should I write about yesterday? I suppose I might as well. Sleep is for the weak right? I worked til 4. I was front push. My favorite. Sundays are pretty slow though. Then I came home. My daddy came home soon after. He was gonna eat dinner with us. After he'd only been over a few minutes he was like "Well I guess I'll go now." My mom was like what? But then my brother distracted him with talk about how he downloaded Oceans 13 in HD and that they were supposed to watch it tonight, so he stayed. I went over to Jewel to visit Nick before dinner. He was facing. I helped him face the yogurt. I did a bang up job if I do say so myself. Visiting Nick at Jewel is pretty easy. I just get to hang out with him for a few hours basically. Granted there's not much physical contact and I have to stand, but it would give us a lot more time together if I went often. I went home and watched the movie with my family. During the movie Nick called and I told him about Chris's house. It didn't go over too well so when he asked if I would visit him again I said yes. I watched the end of the movie and then went to see him. He seemed fine. I talked a little extra to make sure there were no silences where he could mention anything. But it seemd fine. After work I went over to his house. We watched the world's fattest man. He is way cooler than the half ton man just so you know. Way more energetic, and he has a girlfriend. How weird is that? So I ended up home at 12 ish. Good times. Nick isn't being very horny cause he has laryngitis. What a lame excuse. He did ask me when my period was going to be over though. So I assume that's a good sign. I think I'll just mostly stop hitting on him til he gets lonely. That was the main problem when I didn't feel like sex. I was so busy fending off sex that I didn't have time to get horny.
I'm too tired to write about any other days I may have missed. If you have a special request, feel free to make it. And now for the closer I will copy and paste the story I told Chris. It was pulled straight out of my ass. Written on the spot. Prepare to be amazed.
oneSEXYblexy (11:37:05 PM): there once were three beautiful caterpillars
oneSEXYblexy (11:37:38 PM): one was blue with long eyelashes, one was green with sexy curves, and one was red with kissable lips
oneSEXYblexy (11:37:51 PM): they spent all of their time sitting on this one leaf
oneSEXYblexy (11:37:55 PM): it was the hot spot of the tree
oneSEXYblexy (11:37:59 PM): mainly caus ethey were there
oneSEXYblexy (11:38:38 PM): they would have other caterpillars bring them other leaves from the tree so that they could have something to eat because obviously they didn't want to eat the leaf they were standing on
oneSEXYblexy (11:38:41 PM): thats just common sense
oneSEXYblexy (11:38:57 PM): so they spent their days eating gossiping and looking at themselves in the mirror
oneSEXYblexy (11:39:08 PM): then one day they noticed that no one has brought them any food
oneSEXYblexy (11:39:18 PM): "where are our suitors" the red one asked
oneSEXYblexy (11:39:33 PM): "i don't know but they better hurry up," said the green one "i'm hungry'
oneSEXYblexy (11:40:24 PM): "maybe those blobs hanging from the trees are slowing them down" said the blue one as she batted her pretty eyelashes
oneSEXYblexy (11:40:43 PM): they spent the rest of the day gossiping about how ugly those new things hanging from the branches were
oneSEXYblexy (11:40:51 PM): they didn't even consider finding their own food
oneSEXYblexy (11:40:54 PM): that was unheard of
oneSEXYblexy (11:41:17 PM): a week later one of the hanging things started to shake violently
oneSEXYblexy (11:41:22 PM): it split right down the middle
oneSEXYblexy (11:41:29 PM): a wrinkled ugly creature crawled out
oneSEXYblexy (11:41:33 PM): soon the rest were doing the same
oneSEXYblexy (11:42:03 PM): these wrinkled creatures just sat on the tree and slowly, one by one, they became less wrinkled.
oneSEXYblexy (11:42:24 PM): the ugly blues, greens, and reds began to unfurl into beautiful wings
oneSEXYblexy (11:42:47 PM): the new creatures soared throughout the sky enjoying their new freedom
oneSEXYblexy (11:43:14 PM): the three caterpillars called out to them, recognizing a few of their friends despite their strange transformations
oneSEXYblexy (11:43:32 PM): however, none of them stopped, the caterpillars were not the most beautiful anymore
oneSEXYblexy (11:43:46 PM): the end
